Elevator Bolt with Broad Flat Head and Square Neck
Bolt with a broad flat head and square neck. Confirm the head, neck, thread and length against the drawing or an approved sample.

An elevator bolt is identified by its broad flat head and the square neck below it. The neck engages the mating hole to resist rotation while the nut is turned, and the broad head changes the contact area. The image confirms that form only; it does not establish a standard, size, material or property class.
Do not order it as only a flat-head bolt
Carriage bolts, plow bolts and custom flat-head bolts can also have a square neck, but their head profiles and seating conditions differ. Put the head diameter, head height or countersink angle, square-neck width and length, thread and length datum on the drawing. Compare the shape with our carriage bolt page when identifying an existing part.
The mating hole controls how the neck works
The square neck needs a compatible hole and plate thickness. An oversized hole, a soft mating part or insufficient clearance below the head can change the anti-rotation action and assembly result. Include the fixture-hole drawing, plate thickness, installation direction and permitted head projection in the RFQ.
